
Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver, police said.
According to NBC Los Angeles, LAPD officers responded to a report of an assault on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood around 12:15 a.m. local time.
An investigation determined that Sutherland entered the ride-share vehicle and physically assaulted and made criminal threats toward the driver.
The driver did not sustain any injuries, an LAPD spokesman told the network, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
According to Los Angeles County jail records, Sutherland was taken into custody and booked into jail around 4:30 a.m. on an unspecified felony charge. He was released on a $50,000 bond about seven hours later. He is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on Feb. 2.
Representatives for Sutherland did not immediately return requests for comment.
The 59-year-old actor is best known for his starring role as federal agent Jack Bauer on the Fox television show 24, which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Sutherland’s film credits include Stand by Me, The Lost Boys, Flatliners, Young Guns and A Few Good Men.
His father is the late actor Donald Sutherland.
